Jesus said to Petrus:
Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you, and lead you where you do not want to go.
What has the above verse to do with crisis? We all know that as long we are young and strong we do what we want, go everywhere as we like. Therefore the crises is necessary, we need change! Our Lord in His love often takes drastic measures that we decide to go His saving way, to receive His spiritual equipment, to seek His protecting presence to get in total dependency of Him with great trust.
He wants to take away from us all own strength and secureness. Then we seem to fall in great uncertainty as if the carpet is pulled away under our feet. Everything loses its meaning which seemed valuable to us before. A total break down. No more goals, all in vain!
But when we collaps, are lying on the ground with an empty heart then God approaches us tenderly and asked us lovingly: Do you want to be my child, to belong to me? Do you want to follow me, entrust your life to me so that I can fill your heart. I like to do that for you, my sweet child. How will be your reply?
Some experience this crisis at a young age, others rather late. And some have to go through many crises before they can say: Yes Lord, now I will follow You are my Master. One often serve the Lord with passion in own strength, follow own ideas and goals. Your own human compassion drives you to help others. You make an effort and get involved sometimes almost until burnout. Your prayers for blessings do not reach the ear of the Father. No, God will speak to you first, will show you the work to be done, will send you to the right place at the right time. The need is great. He will show you the task you can then fulfill in joy with His strength, love, and patience. Without Him you can do nothing!
Yes, the crisis is good and finally fruitful. God is calling you to gird, to equip you, and lead you where you now do not want to go. He will reach His goal with us even when we often stumble. Let us praise Him for His patience, wisdom. His will be done!
Thank You, Jesus for crises! It is nothing but the way to You. You want to put me at the right place. Lord, I hand over to You all my abilities and secureness. Equip me and lead me. I am ready!
