Here I am, I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,
I will come in.
Normally you think that above words are addressed only to non-believers who are not yet Christians. This is not true. These words are also meant for the many Christains who have lost their way, the first love, the sight of Jesus, no longer know their destiny, the meaning of life. Sure, they go to church, do their services, speak the usual prayers, read the bible – however, they do not hear anymore the voice of Jesus. Somehow, the contact with Jesus has been lost in their day-to-day church life. It is just like the parable of the sower reports: Good seed fell among thorns which grew up with it and chocked the plants. Thorns and weeds today are the scam of wealth and the worries of this world. How many work and gather up only for nice holidays, or to buy new furniture and all kind of plunder which are anyway thrown away after years. How much overtime also these types of Christians make for the mammon. They are overly worried about their children, the career, the car, sports and hobbies. They worry about the daily bread that God likes to give us. Our worries and energy are in vain as God promised us to provide us with everything.
Yes, the hunt for wealth is fraud from God`s point of view as well as the depressing worries about our daily bread. They suffocate our joy, ignore the gospel.
Did they never read Matthew 6 ? “See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that nor even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”
We want to take God at His word. We want to let Him worry about our well-being and will thank Him for that in advance. We will say no to the hunt for luxury and prosperity, will make our time available to Him.
We ask Him to forgive us for our mistrust and invite Him to sit enthroned in the center of our heart. We want to hear again His voice, want to dwell in His peace, want His heavenly joy! Away with sorrows and fraud!
Thank You, Jesus! Yes, You knock at the door of my heart and I will open it again. The day-to-day problems and the sorrows of this world have estranged me from You. I want to stopp that. Be again my Lord, my Savior, Redeemer, and Friend! Please forgive me!
